So many things lined up perfectly to make this dream wedding come true. First, it was my last open weekend of the summer and I knew there was a reason! So off we went to Edson Hill, the crown jewel of the area complete with streams, a private lake, horses, and it’s own private cabins right out of a magazine. Not to mention the view! These two picked style and adventure and the work crew spent two days assembling this fairytale setting with a series of tents and marque flooring, which was music to the soul band’s ears. MacKenzie thought of everything to make her people feel right at home nestled in the Green Mountains. The team at Edson Hill went above and beyond to create the most incredible guest experience we have ever witnessed and Janelle Vick, of White Confetti Wedding Planning, teamed with the venue staff to make the day seamless.

The rehearsal kicked off the fun with a lovely lakeside run-thought followed by dinner on the private dining back patio. The event would carry on to the Von Trapp Family Bier Hall up the mountain for toasting Austrian-style, all thanks to Jim’s fun family. MacKenzie’s family is very special to me as we go back almost fifteen years so I really wanted to make the wedding day special. As the guys got ready at the stables, the ladies rocked out in the bridal room. After their romantic creek side first look, they exchanged letters. Downtown Stowe is special to the pair, so it made sense to stroll down main street and be the toast of the town. Horns honked and friends and locals alike waved their approval and excitement for the couple. We felt like celebrities for the day. As we retreated back to Edson Hill, the sun started the countdown to “I do” and a lively cocktail hour would ensue. We stepped away just long enough catch our breathe in an old horse pasture before joining the dance party. The midnight sky turned to navy and the tents glowed orange like the sun, all with a soundtrack of laughter that could be heard from miles thanks to the Crazy Cam. We would close this party down! Needless to say, the Vicks fell in love with Vermont, Edson Hill, and MacKenzie & Jim. We miss you all deeply!

Janell has waited over ten years for this day. I first met her family at a wedding in Michigan and at that wedding Janell’s mom whispered to her, “Someday, when you get married, we need to fly Andrew out to photograph your wedding.” No pressure, right? The weekend started with an incredible rehearsal dinner with impeccable food and even better laughter at a local brewery. Then the big day arrived. Friends and family poured in to the stunning downtown historic church to witness their vows before making their way to the Belle Isle Boat House that clung to an island and served as the gateway to the Great Lakes. As the sun sank, it gave way to rich colors and guests and the couple all headed for the balconies to take it all in. Our hearts left full for two people that deserve all the happiness in the world.

Wedding dresses were meant to get wet….at least that was Carrie’s belief as she dove into the ocean and resort pool head-first with her beaded gown on the evening after her wedding. This was the trip she and Brian had dreamed up from our first conversations and they had wanted to find a photographer bold enough to dream and expand their vision along the way. I had purchased some new underwater housing that I could not wait to show off and combined with two madly in love people made for a potent combo and some of my finest work to date.

The day before, Carrie fidgeted at the end of the dock at Playa Largo as she heard Brian’s white dock shoes clacking along the pier boards towards his bride. Their wedding day was finally here! Janelle and I knew from the moment we met this pair, we had too much in common to not be in each other’s lives. This union was special, as we made it an entire Vick family affair to the Keys, with Janelle doing the officiating and me behind the camera to gather every spontaneous moment. The sun and weather could not have been more perfect as guests took their seats and their dog led the charge down the aisle to ‘daddy.’ Dry eyes were hard to find and most blamed it on a combination of the breeze, sunshine, and champaign. The island-inspired food to follow did not disappoint, as guests enjoyed taking it all in as the sun sank into the ocean. The music carried everyone away where we would finish our final notes in a salt-water-inspired conga line. You just can’t make this stuff up! Best job ever.
