You pair a freestyle skiing coach with a nationally acclaimed racer, add a gondola and a foot of fresh powder and you have yourself an epic way to ring in the New Year!  Emmy and Palmer grew up on the slopes of Colorado so found it a natural fit in choosing Steamboat to celebrate their wedding.  We awoke to fresh tracks as the groomsmen hit the hill early; Emmy's father had special access as a ski patrol and made the ideal guide.  Meanwhile, the ladies were getting their final touches ready-in this case meaning skis sharpened in addition to makeup-and up we went on the Gondola.  The ceremony took place mid mountain as guests were encouraged to stay in their ski gear, clinking ski poles as they skied their way back down the hill as husband and wife.  In Colorado when freestylers say "let's hit the half-pipe" it takes on a whole new meaning as I would quickly learn; my three cameras strapped around my neck we had a blast!  The party continued until late into the night capped with Steamboat's traditional torchlight parade.  Thank you to the Hoyts and Barrs for adopting me into your loving families for the weekend!  See you again soon.

I have been looking forward to this day for a long time.  At The Living Room Studios, John Hoel is a household name and a dear friend.  He is perhaps the most talented videographer I have met and with that particular eye, many of us wondered just who would be incredible enough to catch his keen eye.  Along came gorgeous Emma!  See, many couples dream up a lavish large day but John and Emma took the opposite route.  They chose to get married in their home with 30 of their closest family and friends and then an open house reception to follow.  That intentionality is very true to their character and the perfect way to celebrate.  Following the ceremony we took a break to feature some of their favorite pastimes:  Punch Pizza, Lake Calhoun strolls, Vegas excursions, running countless marathons, and of course their DOGS!  People say never to wear white on a wedding day, but their black lab Judy never got the memo apparently.  Emma was happy to have a second bride along for the party.  We love you guys!

What a pair these two make!  Adam is a comedian in his own right, and his guys are his side acts and back him up.  He is a guy I respect a lot who wears his heart on his sleeve. Renee is a porcelain doll, fair and calming with just the right amount of spunk.  These two took retro to a whole new level in scripting this throw-back funky day centered squarely on their faith journeys.  Winter hit Uptown early this year and we had plenty of snow to play with finding some of the best light nestled between an apartment complex with a single tree springing forth.  Following a tearful first meeting, an moving time of worship and unity, we were off to celebrate in St. Paul.  So much energy and love filled the room, a true testament to the Love these two share.  Thank you for sharing this with me.

I have know Angela's family for quite a while.  I got to be apart of her sister's lakeside summer wedding a few years ago, so why not do something totally opposite?  Winter in St. Paul is beautiful, and we got to maximize Rice Park's intimacy to its fullest.  Ryan wrapped her up tight in his arms as we got to photograph the beautiful holiday decor.  Since the two are avid dog-lovers, they had two special cakes crafted to be spitting images of their two "kids".  The Minnesota History Center buzzed all night long as family and friends streamed in to congratulate them.  It was an honor to capture those special moments with the ones you cherish.  Thank you friends and see you soon!

Kerry is such a sweetheart and Jeff is a charmer; the two were meant for each other and everyone in the room knew it.  We started off the day with the ladies getting ready at the salon in St. Paul and worked our way over to St. Thomas University where she could lay eyes on her groom.  It was a wonderfully warm day for November.  Their friends are really fun-loving people and adopted me into the group for the day and we took off to the newly remodeled Blaisdell Manor. The mansion was stunning and was packed with their favorite people as the cocktail party overtook the first two floors.  There was so much love in the room!  Thank you both for an incredible day, I enjoyed every belly-laugh!

Wade came home from his serving our country in Iraq to marry a beautiful girl named Heather.  I mean, its not everyday you get to meet a Blackhawk pilot, let alone photograph their wedding.  The day of their wedding we got special access from the Commander to join the training crews out on the landing strip to get a few photographs around and inside the helicopters.  I had never seen one up close and had goosebumps from head to toe!  As the propeller whirled loudly and wind blew, it caught Heather's dress and hair perfectly; this girl was meant to model!  Wade's buddies whistled at them as they knew just how lucky he was to find a girl to take flight with him like Heather.  What a treasure!  I laughed so hard all day long with them, Heather's joy just jumping out of her.  Merina and Kim joined the party and the three of us teamed to capture this unique day.  It will be an experience we will never forget.  We are so excited for your life ahead; you are blessed!

Maria and Dave shared many mutual friends of myself and Vick Photography couples.  I was alerted months in advance that this would be a rockin good time and no one could have been disappointed!  The sun flashed through Rice Park as Dave turned over his shoulder, jaw-dropped to lay eyes on his beautiful bride.  As my heart and lens are so interconnected throughout the day, my tears and occasional giggle was pretty easily detected.  Brian Suter, a close mutual friend, had the honor of performing an extremely personal and moving ceremony.  Following some hugs, we wisked the couple away down the street for a quick cup of coffee, a common practice in their relationship and symbolic of their coming together.  A dress-change later, and they were ready to dance the night away.  What a night we had!

Can I just say that Annie and Brian are just so incredibly cool?  To those in attendance it comes as no shock, but I had the privilege to soak up the love they have for each other and their family with the camera; it is hard to do love like this justice.  We spent the early part of the day finding places to protect us from a crisp fall breeze and seize the best of the fall color desperately clinging to the lowest branches of the trees.  Every stunning detail of the day was covered thoroughly by Mother of the Bride and allowed Annie to really shine and be alongside her best friend in the whole wide world in Brian.  The set up and style that engulfed The Depot took my breath away from the moment I opened the doors.  Guests were a-buzz all night long, filling the air with big laughs until the music kicked in and family flooded the floor.  This is a party no one will forget.  Thank you for allowing me to share in your joy; your love is the kind that changes lives.  Live from that.

Melissa finished the last touches with her dress and strolled her way across Rice Park to meet her groom Michael.  To this day, there is still something so fairy tale about seeing a girl dressed in white in that enchanting park with the back drop of the historic Landmark Center.  I had picked out some nooks around downtown St. Paul that I have been excited to use, including a short jaunt across the river.  The Minnesota History Center with its purple reflections could not have complimented the reception decor more perfectly.  Tall pampas grasses were a hit, not to mention orchids of many colors and sizes.  As the wine flowed, gourmet dish after dish made its way through the party to everyone's bliss.  Dancing closed off the night with little girl after little girl waiting in line to try out Melissa's veil.  What a touching scene.

I remember the call from Kelly well.  She was thrilled to be getting married to Tom and had the fun challenge of coordinating an out-of-state wedding.  They were living in California and had an incredible sense for style and elegance.  Tom's guys cracked me up all day, and I could see that their ties go way back.  The St. Paul Cathedral was the perfect setting for this stylish couple, its grandeur is unlike any other place in Minnesota that I have seen.  As the two decided not to see each other beforehand, the photographic moments just following their ceremony with the two of them were particularly great!  We adventured down Grand Avenue in St. Paul to celebrate and toast the attractive couple.  317 on Rice Park played host to their reception and was as warm and inviting a place as one could ask for on this monumental day.  I hope to see you both again soon, maybe in Santa Barbara next time?  Blessings friends!
