When Greta and I first met over coffee, it took us until the middle of the conversation to realize that our paths had crossed 15 years prior. My aunt and uncle knew the groom’s family for years in Rochester and my parents knew the bride’s family for years from Mankato. When she told me about her vision for a destination wedding of sorts in Hayward, WI, I got giddy excited to join in the fun! Their style was apparent from the black and white polka dots on everything in sight to the heard of flowers girls with pink gerbers in their hair. Family and friends came from all over including Norway to be a part of this Scandinavian wedding celebration along the lake. After the ceremony, Greta & Brian boarded canoes and paddled their way to the reception!! When the last of the 120 children slowly cleared from the dance floor, DJ Flow laid down a smooth romantic waltz to close the night’s festivities. They had to roll me home after eating one to many Swedish meatballs!

It’s not everyday you get to take a wedding party to a dumpster and not have somebody give you a raised eyebrow. Bridget and George were the bomb! From the moment I met them I knew we would be friends and their willingness to trust my photographic vision on their wedding day was very apparent. This day had it all, from gardens, to smokestacks, to the Minneapolis riverbank. As they fell in love through the quirky sports of ultimate frisbee and rock climbing it’s obvious the world will forever be their playground.

When Brenna and Jason told me they were getting married, I was so excited for them! Not only had they been a part of several weddings that we have photographed but their wedding party was filled with friends of Living Room Studios. The Weddings of Wayzata served as a spring board to some of God's most serene landscape found in the metro area. Being an avid fisherman, I had a vision this spring to find a way to incorporate the stillness and romance found on the lake and merge it into the wedding story. Thanks to Brenna and Jason for going along with it, I think it was a hit! The day progressed to Gale Woods Farm, complete with lawn games, wild flowers and a blue grass band. The day couldn't have been more perfect!

After meeting with Heather and Neal for the first time and hearing the vision for their wedding, I had been marking down the days until this celebration. With Heathers' taste for style and class and Neals' taste for, well....a good rockin party, the two danced their way from the Chambers Hotel in downtown Minneapolis to becoming pieces of art themselves over at the Walker galleries. The ceremony was really more of a cocktail party: upon entering the room all guests received wine glasses pared with lively jazz music from the string quartet. As the wine glasses parted a girl in white on the arm of her dad emerged from the crowd as they met to exchange vows and a royal ruckus ensued! It was fun to see many warm and familiar faces from many previous weddings as a part of the crowd and wedding party, I'm just humbled to be a part of this celebration.

Michigan here we come! As both the bride and groom are from the Twin Cities, they decided to go back to Kelly's roots along Lake Michigan. Kelly is a full-time graphic designer and put much thought into every aspect of their mid- summer day. As she was getting ready at her childhood home, she couldn't stop leaping for joy! There was an overflow of laughter, trolley stops down memory lane, and mae flies that almost had us swimming. I love this couple and hope you do too.
