There are incredible benefits to having an engagement session. You are able to get comfortable in front of the camera and it’s wonderful practice so it feels like second nature on your big day. It also allows you to give Andrew feedback on what images you love so he knows exactly what you prefer on your wedding day. Last, but certainly not least, it’s time where you get to know Andrew and he gets to know you and your love story!

Andrews tips

9 Ways to make your engagement session fabulous

What to wear? Wear what makes you feel fantastic, plan to dress like you’re going out for dinner with friends. We recommend dressing for the outdoors (unless you have specifically chosen an indoor location) and bring a jacket or something easy to put on quickly between clicks of the camera. Also consider putting up your hair, changing glasses, adding a hat, or pulling on your favorite jersey to give your session a few different looks without needing to take a break to change. Relax and don’t overthink it!

Consider bringing props. Think of something you both enjoy, what teams you support, or things that simply make you laugh out loud or smile.

Hire a professional. Consider going to a salon to have your hair styled or a barber shop for a fresh shave. Your session is also a great opportunity to try out your wedding makeup/hair either by a professional or yourself so you can see your full look in photos and make any adjustments before your wedding day.

Take it easy the night before. Take a night off from planning, order in, and just be intentionally sweet to each other. Coming straight from work can make it hard to connect and unwind during your session, so positive vibes from the night before, sweet texts, or notes around the house can really set the right mood.

Make it a date. Extend the fun and turn the session into a memorable date night or lunch out. Andrew is a huge foodie and loves to give recommendations.

What about pets? If you chose a Local Adventure, Destination, or Fly-to-You session, your pet is welcome to make a cameo but make sure to bring a friend to hold the leash or carrier so we can go off and focus on just the two of you as well.
