Katherine and August

Wedding Date: June 17th 2022

Driving out to Willow Brooke Farm on this sunny and warm Minnesota morning filled me with energy and excitement. But my excitement was nothing compared to that of Katherine and August. The entire property was buzzing with excited guests, friends, and family when I arrived. As I made my way to the bridal suite I could see all Katherine’s friends watching with anticipation knowing that the big day is finally here. After putting on the finishing touches, Katherine made her way downstairs where all of her loved ones were waiting for the big reveal. She had barely stepped through the doorway when the screams of excitement and joy filled the air and before you knew it she was in the middle of a big group hug.

As tears were wiped away, Katherine and I made our way outside to the empty ceremony site where August was waiting. When she saw him standing alone at the end of the aisle her face completely lit up and her pace quickened. They threw their arms around each other with a perfect vineyard and floral backdrop behind them. Their mothers created paper flowers that ranged from small and sweet to giant towering poppies like you would see in Alice in Wonderland. The three of us explored the grounds and admired their mothers handiwork that brought some bright whimsy to the day.

I’ve seen some large wedding parties in my day, but this one is hands down the winner for biggest ever! Their friends and family gathered around them and showered them with love. What an amazing honor to have so many people want to stand up for you on your wedding day. One of my favorite moments of the day, and quite possibly the entire summer, came when I took the one on one bridesmaid photos. I thought I’d mix it up and asked Katherine to tell each of them why they were chosen as a bridesmaid. It ended up being the most love-filled cry fest that was overflowing with words of love and affirmation. This photographer may have joined in the happy tears too. I think everyone should take time to say these things to their loved ones because we all really do need to hear it every now and again.

With the sun hanging high in the sky and the guests filling every seat, the ceremony was ready to begin. Willow Brooke is the perfect outdoor venue with picturesque views in every direction. The sweet smell of flowers and freshly mowed grass filled the air and everyone was wearing a big smile as they watched these two exchange their vows. After a quick toast, we decided to explore the grounds a bit more as the cocktail party was in full swing. We rounded the corner just as the wedding party finished lining up for the grand march and all eyes were on Katherine and August. At that very moment, the sun poke out from the trees and filled the space with the most incredible warm light.

Everything was perfectly in its place as we entered the reception. From the beautiful handmade flowers to the cupcakes and decor, it was bright and cheery just like Katherine and August. Dinner was incredible and the thoughtful and funny toasts filled the room with laughter. We decided to do a sparkler sendoff at the end of the evening just as the sun set and the outdoor twinkling lights flickered on. It was the perfect end to a perfect day and I couldn’t stop smiling my entire way home.
