Kristen and Clémentine
Every wedding tells its own story, and this one was about two worlds colliding in the most beautiful way. Kristen is from Minnesota, Clémentine is from France, and on this day, their love transformed the American Swedish Institute into their own little chateau in the heart of Minneapolis.
Our team photographer Erin captured the day, and from the very beginning it felt like stepping into something extraordinary. Kristen wore a rich green silk dress, Clémentine a sleek cream suit, and together they looked timeless yet modern, like they were meant to stand side by side. Both wore vibrant flower crowns, and everywhere you turned from the glassware to the florals and the décor, there were rich colors and stylish details. It felt fresh, joyful, and alive.
They started the day with final touches before meeting for their first look. That moment had all the emotion you’d hope for, quiet, real, the kind of pause that reminds you why we love documenting love in the first place. After portraits and time with family, they tucked away as guests filled the courtyard.
The ceremony itself was heartfelt and deeply personal. A harpist played as they walked in. They tied the knot, literally, through a handfasting, and their rings were warmed by the hands of their loved ones before being exchanged. Everyone cheered as they walked down the aisle together and the sun even made a special appearance glowing warm and golden through the leaves.
Afterward, cocktail hour spilled out onto the veranda and through the mansion. Guests clinked glasses, conversations buzzed, and the whole place felt like an elegant garden party. Long communal tables set with bold, colorful details invited everyone to gather close and celebrate together. Kristen and Clémentine entered to applause, followed by a meal, heartfelt toasts, and stories that had everyone laughing and tearing up in equal measure.
One of my favorite parts of the night came later when Kristen and her mom dawned cowboy boots before stepping onto the dance floor, grinning from ear to ear. It was unexpected and unforgettable. From there, the first dances melted into a packed dance floor, and the energy never slowed down.
This day wasn’t just about style (though it had plenty of it). It was about blending lives, families, and traditions into something uniquely theirs. A little Minnesota, a little France, a lot of joy and a reminder that when love is at the center, everything else just falls into place.
