Maya and Wael
Wedding Date: December 16th 2023
When I met with Maya and Wael and heard they would be hosting their wedding from the iconic Minneapolis Institute of Arts, I knew this day was going to be thoughtful and above all, a work of art. The idea of walking the halls filled with timeless art while I captured timeless memories with this lovely couple was enough to send goosebumps down my arms. Creating art in an art gallery, seems pretty perfect to me.
When I arrived at the gorgeous gallery, sculptures filled my view and the towering architecture welcomed me inside. I greeted an excited Maya in the bridal suite where she wore a classic silk gown and looked as if she had just stepped out of a painting. She was bubbly and full of life and simply couldn’t wait to see Wael. She took a deep breath as we exited the room and walked the marble halls toward the stairs where Wael was waiting. She descended the staircase with grace and excitement and I watched Wael’s smile spread across his face as he heard her footsteps draw near. The pair immediately took a big sigh of relief now that they were together again. I always find that the build up to the first look is excitement and nerves, but as soon as you see your partner, all the nerves really go out the window and that’s replaced with pure joy.
We set up a really fun dual dad reveal outside under the awning taking advantage of the gorgeous architecture that framed them like a work of art. We also teamed up with their wedding party for some hugs and excitement before the guests started to arrive for the ceremony. Everyone filled the hall, seated between priceless works of art and names that fill art history books. Maya walked down the aisle arm in arm with her parents and then took her place next to a smiling Wael. When their eyes met, you just knew they were perfect for each other.
As the ceremony came to a close with a cheering crowd, the happy couple walked down the aisle and into their cocktail hour. They offered delicious looking signature cocktails and the black tie event was buzzing with excitement. At one point, Wael looked around the room filled with people who know and love them and became overwhelmed with gratitude. Moving to America, going to college, meeting his soon-to-be wife, and now calling this place his home. The entire room was filled with love and you could feel it echo through the now empty gallery halls.
