Megan and Luke
Wedding Date: October 7th 2022
Sometimes you meet people and you instantly know they’re going to be friends. I knew this about Megan and Luke from the first time we met and our conversations bounced back and forth between wedding planning and fishing stories. Throw in a little local Duluth know-how and some cooking tips and I think our first meeting was double (or triple) the time we actually allotted. I was very excited to join them for a Destination engagement session in Duluth where we boarded Luke’s fishing boat and took in the sunset from the waters of Lake Superior. Then knowing that I love fishing and nothing beats a fresh catch, Luke graced me with some of the best fish I’ve ever had. So to say I was excited for their wedding day would be an understatement!
They decided to leave the rocky shores of Duluth behind and instead opted to get married at the gorgeous Camrose Hill in Stillwater. With the flowers in full bloom and the fall leaves turning a beautiful shade of yellow and orange, it made for a stunning backdrop for this already amazing day. We started off in the bridal cabin where Megan showed off her wedding look to her father who was patiently waiting outside. The second he saw his little girl there were hugs and tears of joy. Then Megan and I walked through the beautiful grounds until we saw Luke waiting for his turn. Megan lit up the second she saw him and he smiled as he heard her hurried footsteps draw nearer. Surrounded by all the natural beauty of Camrose, it’s hard to outdo the scenery, but these two sweethearts definitely stole the show.
As the guests arrived and took their seat, Megan and Luke were overwhelmed by the sheer number of amazing people that were there to support them from all stages and seasons of life. The excited crowd turned to watch Megan walk down the aisle but I think the only person she saw was Luke standing at the end. Every inch was decorated to perfection with seasonal flowers bursting from the trellis above them as they exchanged their vows. Smiling guests in autumn coats and colors made for the perfect scene. They practically floated down the aisle, Megan beaming ear to ear and Luke with his signature smirk.
Megan put on a shawl that was perfect for the season and the crisp autumn air. As the sun sunk lower in the sky, we adventured around the grounds to take in the moment. I was joined by my dear friend and Team Photographer, Tim Long, who flew in from California to help capture the rest of their day. I was also excited to welcome part of our Vick Photography crew, Katelyn, who arrived to capture the reception and dance. The reception hall was filled with all their loved ones as they entered to applause. After a few toasts filled with tears and laughter, dinner was served. This special meal was quite literally handpicked by Luke who made sure every single piece of fish from Alaska was prepared to perfection. He worked alongside the talented Chowgirls whose collaboration made it a dinner to remember. We couldn’t have asked for a better day or better company to celebrate these two amazing people!
