Nicole and David
Wedding Date: October 20th 2023
After a tour of new venues this season, coming back to Bavaria Downs really felt like coming home. We had just finished capturing the grand opening event of their new venue, Equestria West, and now being back at the Edward Anne Estate felt like walking through the doors of a family home. Familiar faces, cozy corners around every turn, and all this on one of the most gorgeous days of the year! Nicole and David couldn’t have planned it better and I was honored to be there capturing it all!
Nicole and David are the sweetest pair you will ever meet and overflowing with positive, bubbly energy, excited to start their day. When I arrived at Bavaria Downs, the sun was shining in the big blue sky and it honestly felt more like a summer day than late fall. The trees however were already starting to turn and the venue was bathed in a colorful sea of maples and oaks all getting ready to welcome the Minnesota winter. I was greeted by Nicole, her family, and a room full of excited bridesmaids all ready to celebrate their sweet friend. After putting on her finishing touches, Nicole revealed her final look to a cheering crowd as she stood hand in hand with their daughter. Family is at the center of this wedding and it was apparent from these first moments. Nicole stopped in the lounge for a first look with her father before continuing outside where David was patiently waiting by the iconic fountain. The second he turned around and saw her it was as if the entire day fell into place right then and there. They’re meant to be together and it shows.
We explored the beautiful grounds together with their friends and family, taking in the autumn color. Then just as guests were starting to arrive for the ceremony, Nicole came over to me and asked if they could exchange their vows privately prior to the ceremony. Of course I jumped at the chance and we walked out to a clearing with a background of autumnal color so they could have a quiet moment alone. I dawned by telephoto lens and watched as they tearfully said their vows for just them to hear. It was exactly what they needed and turned to me, all smiles, and happily made their way back to the main house, staying just out of sight. The big moment when Nicole walked down the aisle toward David was absolutely worth the wait and they couldn’t stop smiling their entire ceremony. The crowd cheered as they practically danced down the aisle and then walked hand in hand into the sunset.
As guests enjoyed the cocktail hour in the gorgeous October weather, we took a long walk so they could enjoy the moment and take in the day so far. Your wedding day passes so quickly it’s important to take a few minutes to really let it all soak in. Back inside, the reception guests jumped to their feet to cheer and welcome the newlyweds. Toasts were shared about how they built their relationship with intentionality and strong family bonds. Hearing about their relationship journey made me love this day even more! When it came time for the dance to begin, Nicole took the first dance and then let their little girl dance with her dad. It was a really special moment seeing the wedding day through her eyes.
