Catherine and Malai

Wedding Date: October 23rd 2021

Like many couples planning their wedding for a 2020 date, Catherine and Malai had grand plans that inevitably had to be changed. However in their case, it ended up being even better than they ever imagined and coming full circle. They had originally inquired about working with us but sadly we were booked for their date and they began their wedding journey without us. Then, after postponing their wedding until 2021, they contacted us again to make sure we were free for the event. I couldn’t have been more overjoyed to join them for their big celebration and better yet, two were now three! They had been blessed with their amazing daughter while they awaited their wedding celebration. Now, instead of it being about them exchanging vows, it was about them as a family and seeing their day through their daughters eyes. I joined them at St. Joseph Catholic Community and was greeted by their sweet daughter excitedly dawning her new wedding attire. Malai waited for his beloved at the end of the aisle and you could see his excitement fill his eyes as soon as he saw her turn the corner. After they picked up their little girl and paraded down the aisle, we all made our way outside to enjoy the sunny fall day with peak colors. We took a stroll through Gold Medal Park and then made our way to the top of the grain elevator at Mill City Museum to take in the spectacular views. Their guests arrived in droves below and they waved like royalty as the crowd cheered on the newlyweds. We stayed until the sun dipped below the horizon and made our way inside for an elegant dinner. They buzzed around the room connecting with friends from all walks of life and seeing family once again. Everyone gathered around the dance floor as the music began and it felt like the whole room was filled with close family members because with their crew you really can’t differentiate, friends are family and family are friends. So they danced with everyone cheering them on and getting ready for their turn on the dance floor. Thank you both for inviting me to be part of your amazing extended family today, it was a true honor.
