John and Mike

Wedding Date: July 11th 2026

Sometimes weddings run smoothly because the couple gets lucky. This one ran smoothly because John and Mike alongside their amazing wedding planner, Kellie, planned every single detail with the precision of people who genuinely love a good celebration and refused to leave anything to chance. Not one thing out of place, not one moment unaccounted for, and somehow, despite temperatures climbing to almost unbearable heights, the entire day still felt effortless and unforgettable.

The heat, to be fair, was no joke. Everyone came armed with hand fans, grooms included, wearing them around their necks between photos and laughing about it the whole time. And yet John and Mike were beaming the moment I arrived, practically radiating excitement. We spent some time down by the lake watching guests trickle in, boat after boat, pontoons packed full of loved ones cruising in just ahead of the ceremony. Minnetonka Yacht Club leaned all the way into its own setting, and it made for one of the most unique guest arrivals I've had the pleasure of photographing.

The ceremony itself unfolded outdoors on the southwest corner of the island, the lake stretched out behind them as the ultimate backdrop. John and Mike walked their separate aisles surrounded by their parents, and by the time they reached the center, neither of them could contain themselves, practically dancing their way toward each other instead of simply walking. Vows were exchanged, rings too, and a unity candle lit alongside both sets of parents.

After signing their marriage license, John and Mike hopped straight onto a boat for a celebratory ride, popping champagne and grinning the entire time while the water churned behind them. Guests welcomed them back to shore just as golden hour rolled in, and the light that evening did something spectacular, warm and glowing, wrapping around every bit of the decor they'd worked so hard to perfect. We took a few minutes to just soak in the sunset before the reception picked up.

The reception tent sat right along the water, giving guests sweeping views for the entire night. When John and Mike made their grand entrance, the whole tent erupted, and the two of them danced their way onto the floor surrounded by all of their guests, everyone waving their fans at each other, laughing so hard they could barely keep the beat. Toasts followed from friends and family, personal and heartfelt.

Once dinner wrapped, the dance floor filled right back up, and that's when things went from great to genuinely unforgettable. They brought in fog machines, glow sticks lit up the tent, and the whole space turned into the place to be for the rest of the night. Heat, humidity, and all, John and Mike pulled off a wedding so meticulously crafted and so full of joy that not even the weather could slow it down.
