Kali and Hunter Engagement
My wife, Janelle, grew up going to a summer camp in Wisconsin with her family. Year after year they would pack up the car and head for the lake and their favorite summer getaway. She told me stories of growing up around the other families that were also repeat visitors and it became like a second family and special friendships formed that you would rekindle each summer. This special place is Brad and Kay’s Campground and I knew that I was really welcomed into the family when I too was invited to spend a weekend in this wonderful place.
Kali had a similar experience growing up, except her grandfather owned the campground, so these people that filled the campground were quite literally her family! She too felt a deep connection with these shores and everyone who returned each summer. When Hunter entered the picture, much like me, he was welcomed into the campground and knew he was now part of the family. It seemed only natural to have their engagement photos in this special place that held so many memories for both of them.
We started with their two gorgeous dogs who were eager to run off and play in the campground after a nice long walk with us. Then we explored the woods and trails that Kali knew so well. From there, we made sure to stop by the beanbag toss on our way to the pontoon. It felt like a greatest hits tour in the best possible way! Each stop held so many cherished memories and fun inside jokes that they had a permanent smile on their faces in between bouts of laughter. As we cruised the lake, we saw a storm roll in so we quickly headed back to shore. They couldn’t resist dipping their toes in the water for a few frames just as the rain began. But instead of running for cover, they embraced the shower as part of the camp experience. So we found a car, flipped on the headlights, and had an impromptu night session in the rain. Honestly, it was perfect. I can not wait for this wedding day and to share laughter and joy with these two amazing people very soon!
