Katie and Billy Engagement

Katie and Billy live in DC but wanted to plan a Minnesota wedding. We’re used to coordinating destination wedding details, but when the destination is right in our backyard, it makes it that much easier and more fun to go all out. They let me know that they would be in town for a very short visit and wanted to try to fit in an engagement session between their packed plans. We came up with a custom time and asked them to meet me at Lake Nokomis because I had something up my sleeve. Sailing and the water was important to both of them so we enjoyed their session at the shore and in the nearby park. We stepped out onto the docks for what they thought were the last photos of the day, but really, it was my secret signal to my friend who had been waiting just down the shore. As we snapped the last few images, a big sailboat pulled up and the captain (my friend) offered to let them take some photos on his boat. They thought it was a bit of that Minnesota nice before they realized we had set the whole thing up in advance. They were thrilled and went off to enjoy the rest of their evening with friends and family still buzzing from the session.
