Kelsey and Thaddaeus
July 2nd 2022
Our day started out at The Westin in Edina. As soon as I opened the door, I was greeted by so many smiling faces, all excited that Kelsey and Thaddaeus’ day was finally here. Bridesmaids and family were perched in every corner, all half getting ready and half watching Kelsey put on her finishing touches. Before she dawned the dress, we decided to make the most of this girls-only (minus me!) morning and everyone jumped on the bed and started roaring with laughter. When her final look was revealed, everyone stopped, completely breathless and then ran to throw their arms around her with excitement.
When it was time for the first look, we made our way to the beautiful St. Stephen's Episcopal Church while dodging rain clouds. The on and off showers didn’t phase them for a minute as they met under the beautiful covered walkway, happy to finally be together. The church is situated along the river and with the freshly fallen rain, the banks were a bright green and made for the perfect photo location.
There were many laughs and big smiles during their ceremony in this beautiful church. Then, as if it were a blessing, the skies cleared just as their ceremony finished and the sun shone brightly for their grand march out of the church. Everyone lined the walkway and cheered on the newlyweds as they boarded the trolley with their wedding party. This was one of the largest groups we’ve had so it was a bit like traveling with our very own cocktail party wherever we went! Our first stop was along the shores of Lake Harriet where everyone made their way to the end of the dock to take in the water, sun, and excellent views. But there are downsides to a large wedding party as we learned when the dock started slowly sinking lower and lower into the water. Happily, no one got wet but we did make a speedy exit!
While we explored the surroundings, the party had begun at Loring Social. When our trolley pulled up, the celebration was in full swing and started spilling out the large open doors into the alley. The vibe was perfect and it felt like we walked into a private jazz club with a trio playing in the background. Kelsey changed up her look and let down her hair for the lively after party. I only stayed through the first dance but honestly felt I could have stayed all night and just watched the party as a bystander, it was definitely the place to be. Thank you both for inviting me to capture this incredible day!
