Megan and Nelson
Wedding Date: June 4th
This is a love story for the history books, or maybe even a fairytale with a happy ending. Megan and Nelson’s story began on the ice as hockey players when they started dating in college. They fell head over heels in love with each other and it was only a matter of time before they were engaged to be married. We started our conversation in 2018 and dreamed up a beautiful vision for their day. Unfortunately like so many others, they had to change their date but their grand vision never wavered. Nelson comes from a photography family so he grew up being around the camera. Because of this, photography was very important to them and I knew what an honor it was to be invited to capture this special and memorable day. Now, 2022 has arrived and so has their big day! After nearly 4 years of planning and excitement, we can all finally celebrate their love story.
We started the day at the stunning Windows of Minnesota and felt like we were on top of the world. The pair exchanged love letters before their first look while gazing out over the city. Megan’s father waited by one of the windows nervously looking out at the bustling streets below waiting for his lovely daughter. The moment she turned the corner was one of my favorite moments of the day. They embraced each other with tears filling their eyes and so much was said without using a single word. Then it was time to see Nelson. Megan took a deep breath and wiped her eyes before they filled again the second he turned around and gasped. He threw his arms around her and they both cried happy tears for the day that had finally come. Megan completely took his breath away as he kept looking at her and smiling knowing exactly how lucky he was to have her, and her to have him.
Black ties were tied, and dressed pressed, for this formal affair at the stunning University of Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. It was the perfect weather with all of the flowers in bloom, but the most important were the lilacs, Megan’s mothers favorite. With the scent of sweet lilacs filling the air, Megan walked down the aisle with her father and the entire crowd cried happy tears right along with them. The ceremony was a celebration of their love and faith and their loved ones looked on while being serenaded by the songbirds who sang their approval. It was a moment out of a movie when they were pronounced husband and wife and they danced down the aisle surrounded by flowers and family under a big blue sky.
Back at Windows of Minnesota, their perfect little sweetheart table was set up next to the window so they would feel like they had the entire city all to themselves. Friends and family toasted the happy couple and commemorated Megan’s mother saying how incredibly proud she would be of her daughter and this beautiful day. It was hard not to shed a few more tears and fog up my camera, but sometimes the moment just gets you. These two however, didn’t miss a beat, and were up and dancing in no time, bringing the entire crowd to their feet. They twirled and laughed above the clouds overlooking their city. I like to think that everyone below joined in and was dancing along with them too.
