Wedding Date: February 28th 2026

There's a particular kind of magic that happens when a venue and a couple are made for each other, and from the moment I stepped into O'Shaughnessy Distilling Co. with Nicole and Jordan, I knew this was going to be one of those days. We started in the back of the building, in the working part of the distillery where the whiskey actually comes to life, barrels stacked in rows like sleeping giants, the smell of oak and spirit hanging in the air. Floor-to-ceiling windows framed the downtown skyline just beyond, and for a moment I just stood there thinking, I have never photographed a first look anywhere quite like this.

I mean it when I say I don't think I've photographed anything quite like it. Nicole and Jordan found each other surrounded by the very barrels that had probably been aging away in that room since long before either of them planned this day, the skyline glowing behind them through the windows. It felt like a scene out of a film, industrial and romantic all at once, two things that shouldn't work together but absolutely did.

From there, we found their friends waiting nearby, and before long they were testing out the distillery's ice whiskey sculpture, laughing, thoroughly delighted with themselves. Nicole and Jordan slipped away to the bar for a signature cocktail of their own, and I watched them lean into each other, completely at ease. If you've ever wondered what it looks like when two people are having the best day of their lives without a hint of nerves left in them, that was it.

The ceremony took place indoors, strings of fairy lights strung overhead like a soft constellation, and the room filled with everyone who loves them most. When it came time to walk back up the aisle as husband and wife, Nicole and Jordan didn't so much walk as they practically danced their way out, unable to contain themselves, laughing the whole way. I don't think I stopped smiling behind the camera the entire time.

We wandered the neighborhood surrounding the distillery a bit after that, all exposed brick and steel and warehouse charm, it felt like it was built specifically for them. Effortlessly cool doesn't even begin to cover it. Later, they slipped outside for champagne by the fire, just the two of them for a few minutes before the whole party swept them back in, and once inside, the entire night settled into this easy, unhurried rhythm. Everyone mingling, everyone laughing, the whole room humming with that particular kind of joy that only shows up when a celebration gets everything right.

At one point, in what might be my favorite detail of the entire day, Nicole and Jordan got to proof a barrel of whiskey together, tasting it before anyone else got the chance. I've photographed a lot of firsts over the years, but that one was new even for me. They spent time weaving through the crowd after that, catching up with guests, soaking in the night, before everyone gathered at the base of the main stairs for toasts. Sweet, funny, the kind of speeches that had glasses clinking and the whole room grinning ear to ear. Nicole and Jordan closed things out with a thank-you toast of their own, a fitting bookend to a night that had clearly been built with just as much care and intention as the whiskey aging quietly in the room where their story had started only hours before.
