Wedding Date: February 7th 2026

Lauren and Spencer's love story started the way most modern ones do these days: two swipes right on a dating app. They met at nineteen, both going to the U of M, and spent those early years doing the real, unglamorous work of building a life together. Awkward roommate situations. A handful of degrees. A cross-country move, and then, because apparently once wasn't enough, another one. New jobs, a new business, eventually a house. By the time international travel entered the picture, these two had already quietly built something most people take a decade to get to.

Spencer proposed at Loch Lomond in Scotland, which sounds like the perfect postcard moment until you hear the rest of it. The whole travel group had gotten hit with COVID, and Lauren and Spencer had both been really sick just the day before. To make it even more high stakes, they'd spent the previous night convinced the proposal was actually going to happen on the Hogwarts Express instead. They laugh about it now, and honestly, I love that they have this messy, very human proposal story instead of some flawless highlight reel version. It's better this way.

This January they'll hit ten years together, and just a month later they'll start counting a whole new anniversary. Ten years down, and now a wedding to show for it.

Their wedding day at St. Paul College Club had that same easy warmth running through it. The first look got real tears out of both of them almost instantly. The ceremony was surrounded by candlelight, which gave the whole room this soft glow that made even a packed house feel intimate. Lauren's twin brother walked her down the aisle, and partway through the vows they did a handfasting, tying their hands together as part of the ceremony. They also set up a table in memory of the people who couldn't be there, a small, quiet gesture that meant a lot.

Their first dance had actual choreography behind it, and you could tell they'd put in the work. Smooth, confident, a few genuinely cool moves mixed in. By the end of the night, they slipped outside just the two of them to soak it all in before things wrapped up. After ten years and one seriously unforgettable proposal story, that quiet moment felt like exactly the right way to close things out.
