Kayla and Patrick
Wedding Date: October 25th 2025
I headed down to Rochester for this one, and I'll be honest, I always jump at the chance. There's something about getting out of the Cities for a day that makes the whole shoot feel like a little adventure. Kayla and Patrick kicked things off with their first look outside, and within about thirty seconds I knew exactly what kind of day this was going to be. These two make the best faces at each other, genuinely ridiculous, scrunched-up, tongue-out kind of faces, and I was cracking up behind the camera trying to keep my hands steady enough to actually catch it.
Their dogs made an appearance too, and I'll never turn down a wedding day dog cameo. Some of my favorite frames from the whole morning came out of those few minutes with the two of them and their pups just being goofy together. Then the wedding party showed up, and the energy in the space basically doubled. This is a fun crew, the kind that makes my job easy because I don't have to ask anyone to loosen up. They were already there.
Kayla's mom walked her down the aisle, and the ceremony took place indoors in their main hall, sunlight pouring in through the windows the entire time. I always love when a room does half the work for me like that. It gave everything this warm, glowing quality that no amount of editing could fake.
After the ceremony we snuck out onto the golf course for a stroll during golden hour, and I mean, a golf course at golden hour is basically cheating as a photographer. Long shadows, soft light, green rolling out in every direction. I couldn't have asked for a better backdrop.
Back inside, the toasts had the whole room absolutely losing it. Genuinely funny people who clearly know Kayla and Patrick well. Their first dance was sweet and unhurried, and then the mother-daughter dance turned into something I did not expect, the two of them full-on rocking out together, dancing like nobody was watching even though the entire room very much was watching. I loved every second of it. The mother-son dance followed right after with a completely different, quieter energy, and it was a nice moment to catch my breath before the dance floor opened up and stayed packed for the rest of the night.
