Rebecca and Jared

Wedding Date: January 2nd 2022

When I was sitting down to write this blog, the first thing that popped into my head was, there’s a lot to like about Rebecca and Jared. So much in fact, it’s taken forever to write this because how do I capture these lovely people in a few paragraphs? Let me do my best and know that these are some incredible people that I was incredibly lucky to meet.

I knew these two were special from the first moment I met them. My wife and I have a long running love for everything Peter Pan and especially Tinkerbell, so I knew it was a perfect fit when Rebecca asked me, “You know in the story of Peter Pan when you get some pixie dust you need to think of something happy in order to fly? What are your happy thoughts?” These two certainly bring happy thoughts to everyone they meet and their wedding day was no exception.

I made my way up Grand View Lodge for the biggest brunch wedding they have ever seen. The Gull Lake Center was decorated to perfection and the stage was set for friends and family to start filling the space with love. Jared proposed using an Easter basket, so eggs became the theme of the day and also tied into their faith of new hope, rebirth, and all the joy that the Easter season brings.

They had a private ceremony where they exchanged their vows before meeting everyone at their ceremony site for the public version. Rebecca runs a home for adults with disabilities and she invited all of the residents. Of those that were able to attend, they joined the couple as their ring bearer and flower girls. Rebecca made sure to spend a private moment with each person to show her gratitude. The ceremony was the perfect opportunity to celebrate these two caring souls joining their lives together.

After the ceremony, they donned their hockey skates and it was the first time I noticed Rebecca was sporting thermal pants under her wedding dress. Now that’s the thinking of an ex-hockey player, ha! We enjoyed the warming house for a bit before meeting up with everyone again for a lovely brunch accompanied by a musician they met at the pub the other night. That’s the type of people they are, loving and oh-so-welcoming! We ended their day where it all began, back at the chapel for a private first dance in the snow under the night sky. Their wedding was pure magic and I can now add this day to my fairydust list of happy thoughts.
