Sarah and Karl

Wedding Date: February 4th 2023

I love when I meet a couple and instantly connect over a shared interest. I felt this spark from the first moment I met Karl and Sarah and heard them talk about travel and adventure. Being a busy doctor and pilot, you know they’re in for a bit of excitement. Talking about their wedding day, I knew we had to incorporate this adventurous side into their photos and really show the world who they are and the heights their love will soar.

After a lot of discussion and dreaming, I was over the moon to be meeting Sarah on the runway for an epic first look that will definitely go down in the Vick Photography history books. Somewhere above our heads in the busy sky, Karl was taking his victory lap with his guys and waiting for our text to tell him he could land. Once the text was sent, Sarah walked onto the runway and started waving down planes as they began landing. The thing is, when a plane is landing it’s very hard to tell who’s behind the wheel, so it felt a bit like she was hitchhiking on the runway! “Nope, not this one! Maybe this one will just pick me up! Is that him?!” she would laugh as plane after plane landed with no Karl to be seen. Then like Maverick himself, Karl landed the plane Top Gun style and coolly got out of the cockpit to greet Sarah who was waiting with arms open wide.

Their friends joined them on the runway and relived the unforgettable moment that happened just minutes ago. They all laughed and joked while we made our way to the hangar. Their world is all about travel and adventure and today they were both flying high, so it seemed only fitting to capture the moment by adding a little 1950’s style drama and allure. Their laughter filled the hangar and echoed around the vast space. Karl twirled Sarah and dipped her for a kiss with everyone on land and sky watching.

On our way to the Green Acres Event Center they shared that they felt like they just got married with all of the excitement, so the fact that they now got to exchange vows in front of their loved ones just made the day all that much better. They practically floated down the aisle and I don’t think their feet hit the floor until their first kiss at the front of the room while everyone cheered and applauded. Friends and family flew in from across the country and were excited to celebrate alongside Karl and Sarah. The reception hall filled with the laughter of many and felt reminiscent of the hangar we just visited earlier that day. But now they were surrounded by lots of smiling faces and warm candlelight. Karl twirled Sarah in front of the large picture window for their first dance and once again it felt like everyone on land and in the sky were watching and dancing along.
