Therese and Peter
Wedding Date: July 15th 2023
Stillwater has an air of romance that never seems to bring a smile to my face when I drive into the sleepy town along the river. For Therese’s family, there’s also a lot of history there especially at the St. Michael Catholic Church where they chose to get married. I met up with Therese in the dimly lit church where she was all smiles as she put on the finishing touches before walking down the aisle. Then I heard something truly remarkable that was coming from the heart of the church. The men’s choir was warming up in the balcony and it gave me goosebumps and filled my heart and soul as I walked closer. Then I saw Peter standing off to the side for a sneak peak of his friends singing all of his favorite songs. He was welling up with tears and I’m not sure how any of them were even singing because I would have been a sobbing mess, it was super sweet and touching.
The church filled with loved ones and the time was finally here. Peter took his place at the end of the aisle and the choir sang a joyous song. When Therese turned the corner and they saw one another for the first time he did everything he could not to burst into tears but I think the rest of the congregation did that for him. It was an incredibly special moment and the pair couldn’t stop smiling once they took one another's hands. They exchanged their vows with a beautiful soundtrack playing in the background and before they knew it they were pronounced husband and wife. They cheerfully walked down the aisle of the packed church and cheering crowd.
The first thing they wanted to do after their hot July wedding ceremony was stop for ice cream and trust me, everyone was on board for that idea! They reserved special treats at the iconic Nelson’s ice cream parlor and enjoyed every last bite. We ran into a little car trouble but they didn’t even bat an eye since that meant more time for chatting with their friends and enjoying the cool treat on such a warm day. After a quick stop at the famous Stillwater overlook, we made our way back to Minneapolis. We enjoyed the sights of Stone Arch Bridge and ran through the green grass by the Guthrie Theater. Then it was time for the reception to begin so we all made our way to The Depot .
When we arrived at The Depot, Brooke made everyone feel right at home and had cool refreshments waiting for us. I always feel so taken care of the second I step foot inside and this time was no different. All of their favorite people waited inside cheering as they walked through the doors. They had a fun donut wall as the centerpiece and friends and family joyfully exchanged toasts to add to the playful atmosphere. Glasses clinked and laughter rang throughout the halls. I looked back at the sweet newlyweds as they smiled at one another enjoying every second.
