Mackenzie and Alec Engagement

Fall engagement sessions are some of my favorites and something I look forward to all year. They're a chance to connect with couples, get to know their personalities, and capture their love story in a relaxed, fun setting. I had the pleasure of photographing Mackenzie and Alec during their engagement session, and it was everything you could hope for in a fall shoot.

They chose an early autumn day for their session, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The leaves were in that ideal phase of vibrant reds, oranges, and yellows, and just starting to fall, carpeting the ground with splashes of color. The crisp air and the warm afternoon light gave us the kind of magic that only happens in autumn. We scheduled the session close to sunset to take advantage of that golden hour glow. With the colorful leaves and soft light, the entire setting felt like something straight out of a painting.

From the start, Mackenzie and Alec were a joy to work with. They chose our Get Acquainted Session, which gave us the chance to explore and have a bit of fun while getting to know each other. It’s always great when couples feel comfortable enough to let loose, and these two were just that, playful, full of laughter, and clearly so in love. They had this effortless connection, and it made capturing genuine, candid moments a breeze. We adventured through a few different parks in the area. I love taking couples to some of my favorite hidden spots, places that I know will highlight the best of the season. They were up for anything, and together we found some incredible little nooks where the trees formed natural frames around them, with fallen leaves beneath their feet.

Mackenzie and Alec’s session was a reminder of why I love engagement photography so much. It’s more than just getting great photos (though that’s definitely part of it!). It’s about creating an experience that allows couples to feel comfortable in front of the camera before their wedding day. By the time we’re done, we’ve had the chance to get to know each other, and they feel more relaxed when the wedding day rolls around.
